Using the Agile Testing Quadrants to Plan Your Testing Efforts
Different testing approaches are needed because quality has many aspects besides functional requirements, such as making sure the code is reliable and secure. How do you know you’ve done the kinds of testing and quality processes are necessary for your product, especially on an agile project?
The Agile Testing Quadrants help you categorize tests and plan for different testing activities needed over the life of a project. It can be used by the team as a base for this common vocabulary about testing, and as a mechanism to start discussions and encourage collaboration.
A presentation will be used to introduce each new concept, but group excercises will be the main focus of learning to understand some of the testing activities. After all the quadrants have been completed, the final exercise will show how to bring the testing efforts altogether.
- How to use the Agile Testing Quadrants to determine the testing that should be performed on your project.
- The audience will understand the difference between tests that support development and those that critic the product and when to use each. They will also understand that tests are either business facing or technical facing - ie. in language of the business or of the technical team.
